Happy thanksgiving from Joyful Kidz! We hope you are able to have a wonderful day reflecting on all the blessings you have.
As I homeschool ZC, we have been learning about missionaries in other countries and about the life and struggles they go through on a daily basis. There are many valuable lessons to remember through these stories. One idea that I hope he gains is an understanding of needs vs wants. Through these stories we see people from all over the world, who have nothing, making huge sometimes life or death decisions. I find we are so blessed beyond our needs. Many times we often find our huge decisions to be what “toy” to play with or buy. We have began the season of circling everything in the wishlist catalog. These things are nice and can be fun, but they go in the wants category. I want to help instill the importance of knowing the difference between the two so that we can be more appreciative towards the extras. Being thankful is a very important part of our lives. Sometimes we take so much for granted and that’s unfortunate. I think if we keep a grasp on our basic needs vs wants then, in turn, we will be more apt to appreciate what we have been blessed with in our lives.
So as we celebrate a day designated to solely being thankful for what we have, take a little time today and really think about how blessed we really are.
Seth, Zane, and I have many things to be thankful for this year… one being given the blessing of a new little one in the making! We are excited for the long awaited addition. We are also thankful for all of our friends and family like yourself! Thank you for letting us be a part of your life in one form or another. Have a wonderful day!
Love,
The Calvins
